Setting Up Banglalion Wimax Indoor Unit (AW3 – Wireless)

Setting Up Banglalion Wimax Indoor Unit (AW3 – Wireless):

Basic Setup:
* Connect the device to computer with the LAN cable. Turn the device on. On the browser go to URL http://192.168.1.1
This should open the device’s setup panel. You may need to refresh the page several times until get the interface (keep pressing F5). See Image – 1.
web-interface

Image – 1

Enter
Username: admin
Password: admin
and click on LOGIN.

* Click on Basic Setup. If your username is already entered to the device, you don’t need to continue the ‘Basic Setup’ (the distributor probably had this done for you at the time of purchasing). But if you made a Reset – "Restore to Factory Default" or by hardware reset button (at the bottom of the device there is a small reset button. Turn on device, keep the button pressed with a pin or wire for few seconds to reset the device. Do this only, if it is really necessary), you should complete ‘Basic Setup’. Type your username following "@banglalion.com.bd" and as of this writing the password is 123456 for all accounts. See Image – 2 for example:
basic-setup

Image – 2

Click on "Confirm" button. This will bring a message window asking for confirmation to Reboot the device. Click OK and wait a while until it reboots. Basic setup is completed, that is – the machine now knows the username. It is also possible to browse the internet now, with the LAN cable attached. To access internet via ‘wireless’, you have to enable Wi-Fi.

Enable Wi-Fi:
On the browser, go to http://192.168.1.1 and login as before,
Username: admin
Password: admin
Click on "Advanced Setup". Click on "Wi-Fi" (Image – 3)
wi-fi

Image – 3

Make
"Radio Enable" – Enable
"Network Mode" – 802.11 B/G/N mixed
"SSID" – CUSTOMIZED
Type a name for your network (replace ‘Your-Name’ on the image bellow), which will be shown on other device as ‘this’ wireless connection is available.
Radio-Enable

Image – 4

Click on "Apply". Then click on "Security".
On the Security panel make,
Auth Mode – WPA2PSK
EncryptType – AES
Passphrase – YourPassword
Type a password for "Passphrase". This will be needed when another computer or device intends to use this connection. After entering a password click on "Apply" and then click on the "Reboot" button.
reboot

Image – 5

Now it is possible to access this device with WLAN from another device. ( Click on "Help" if you need more information. )

Access from Windows 7
Click Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Network and Sharing Center
Click on "Manage wireless networks"
Click on "Add". This brings a wizard, click on "Manually create network profile".
Type the "Network name" as you entered before in SSID (Your-Name, See Image – 4 above)
Select "Security Type" – WPA2-Personal
"Encryption type" – AES
"Security Key" – YourPassword (The password entered before as Passphrase, Image – 5)
Click on "Next" and this finishes the setup. Now if you have selected to connect this line automatically, it will connect (if not, restart windows).

Best of luck.

*Edit: The name of the device is AWB not AW3. Anyway, let it as is.

Thank you Rabiul bhai, Your so great. For this job BanglaLion sales person asked me 500/-

But using your blog, I did it so easily. Thanks, thanks, Thanks a lot :)

    dear,
I have purchased a banglalion wimax usb modem. but my modem cannot connect to network. pls. tell me or help to connect

  3. rabiuls

    Hello Moshiur,
Sorry to hear that. I don’t know about the interface of USB wimax modem and I don’t have one to test. Hope, someone knows this modem will help you.

Meanwhile, can you access it’s interface or control panel through web browser http://192.168.1.1 or is there any software/driver provided by the manufacturer? I mean how to insert the “username” to the modem? And, does windows detect the USB device?

Dear, i have a banglion wimax indoor modem which i use with desktop at home. Now i want to know that is it possible to use another banglion wimax indoor modem at my workplace with the same username and password that means i want to use a single data plan in two modem…? i will be very happy if u reply. THANKS

    • rabiuls

      Hello Tareque,
It should work. Two separate indoor units would use the same username and password. Is this you want to do? Although not tested, I think it will work.

Set the same username for both devices. See the ‘Basic Setup’ above to let the device know your username.

If this fails, you may return to your previous or default account again by setting the old username. So, nothing to worry to test.

Finally, this will fail if they are providing you internet access by verifying the MAC address. Which I do not think they are doing now.

      Best of luck.

  6. Tareque Hasan

Rabiul vai, i tried but it did not worked :-( single id for single device… is there any other way?

    • rabiuls

Yes Tareque bhai, I made mistake like a stupid. It does not work and this is logical. Else people would take a single line with multiple devices to share the bill :) – I could not realize this at first.

Anyway, if you can change/clone the MAC address, you may get it. Probably you need to use telnet. Use any application like hyperterminal, create a TCP/IP connection and go to: 192.168.1.1

If you are successful in making the connection, you will get a prompt to enter login name and password, like:

      RG231-2.5-FLF-81BA login:

You need to enter correct login name and password. Then there is chance to change the address. Google for the details, I have not tried this much.

      Regards.

Banglalion invested a huge amount and so far they have not made any profit. I am satisfied with their service and rate. I think we should not try to hack or harm it, as this is an organization of our country (desi) unlike the foreign phone companies like grameen etc. which are robbing. See their advertisement? Joy knows no bound. So happy with huge profit. Publishing greyscale image to remind you 1971 and then clean your pocket. Beware of these culprits.

I AM USING 2 DEVICE OF BANGLALION

    1. OUT DOOR UNIT WITH 256 ULIMITED
    2. USB MODEM 1Mbps PREPAID.

I LIKE TO USE MY 256 UNLIMITED CONNECTION IN BOTH DEVICE…..HOW COULD I ASSIGN MAC ADDRESS OF OUTDOOR UNIT INTO USB DEVICE?

    CAN ANYONE HELP ME? PLEASE

  9. murtaza

hello, could you please tell me that is it possible to use internet in my pc (via LAN) and use internet in my mobile (via wLAN) via the b.lion indoor modem. BOTH AT THE SAME TIME ??

  10. Musa

Banglalion should allow it’s customers to use internet through multiple device with single account, at least for Pre-paid customers. They wont loose any business from this, but its more convenient to use it that way (Home, Office or Outside).
You can setup your own WLAN(11.g) network by having a router. With what you can access internet from all Wi-Fi enabled devices (PC, Laptop, Mobile Phones, PSP, XBOX, PS3 etc) within it’s network coverage area. I’m not sure if banglalion provides any router to it’s customer or not, but I QUBEE has a in build Wi-Fi router with it’s modem (they call it tower) worth bdt 5000. It should be abt same price you can buy your preferred router from outside, with better signal strength.

    • rabiuls

      Assalamualaikum Musa,

It is possible to access the internet from different devices, through the Banglalion Indoor Unit – AWB. It has the router. Personally I use this on more than one computer and on mobile phone. No restriction. The allocated bandwidth would be shared, so the speed would also be reduced, when using more than one device at the same time to access internet. Else everything is fine. I have no idea regarding their present price.

      Best regards.

  11. Shantanu

    Dear Rabiul,

I bought an indoor from Banglalion, but finding problems with the Wifi. After enabling the Wifi, when I click to load a page from internet, it works fine for the first few trials, but after some time, the response becomes slow. I have to click again and again. Do you have any solution?

    • rabiuls

      Dear Shantanu,
This is probably the problem of your computer. Check this wifi connection with another computer or mobile phone.

Check that if any spyware/malware etc is accessing the internet secretly, these may slow down your connection speed. To find out which programs are connected to internet, use an utility like “Tcpview.exe”. You would get this utility in “SysinternalsSuite” – google to find it.

Sometimes wifi/speed of the banglalion indoor unit gets slower. A restart may solve the problem. Turn the device OFF, wait at least 3 seconds, and turn it ON again.

  12. sajib

help brother, I Can use WimaxAW3 indoor modem but low singnal. Can i any extranal antenna use brother. Please help Antenna Model name and MRP/TAKA.

  13. rabiuls

    Hello Sajib,
There is no interface to use an external antenna with this device. Some router may have ‘pigtail antenna’ which you can remove and extend it with long cable, or use other antenna using this socket. But for the AWB, there is no option for this.

Some people got good result by placing a large sheet of aluminium foil behind the wimax router. No connection, just place the foil. You can try this. You will get this foil in scientific store. Or in some fast food shop you may have seen some items are wrapped in aluminium foil. Ask them where to get it, or buy the food and use the foil.

The best thing is to try to place your router at different locations inside your house to find the best reception. If I place my router in my room, the frequency is almost nil. But if I place it just to the next room, the frequency gets almost full. Height also matters. Try to get the right place, and this is the practical solution. Hope, your problem will be solved soon.

    Take care brother,

    Best wishes.

    • Ratul

I do have this bangla lion wi max modem connected my laptop and i wanna know how should i make this connection in my pc

  14. raihan

how can i change username in AWB indoor modem. Co’z i buy this modem from another reg person. And also i want to know can i use tplink router to extend wifi range. Please help me asap. Thanks

    • rabiuls

No idea Raihan bhai. Probably you would need to contact the Banglalion office. Since an username is also attached to the MAC id of a device.

Again no idea for using tplink router, sorry.

  15. Fawad

    Hi there,

I have a question regarding VOIP service built in AWB modem could you please confirm that we can configure the service with own configurations.
Please if possible could you please post some screen shots of VOIP built in for AWB indoor uint.

    Many thanks,
    Fawad

    • rabiuls

      Hello Fawad,
I do not have experience with VOIP. There is a port to attach VOIP phone on the rear of the AW3 router. So far as I understand, one has to register to any VOIP service provider. They would route the phone calls, and they would provide the necessary settings you need to configure the router (through the Banglalion web interface: Advanced Setup > VOIP). Now it is probably illegal to use VOIP in Bangladesh, so no one is going to provide the service. Then if the service provider uses port 5060 for sip, it is probably blocked.

I heard that Banglalion would provide VOIP service. When they starts this, perhaps we would get VOIP like their other service presently we have – various packages/prepaid/postpaid etc.

Anyway don’t rely on what I have said, since I don’t have any practical experience. I shall ask the Banglalion distributor about this and let you know Inshallah.

      Take care.

      Best wishes.

      • Fawad

        Hi rabiuls,

Thanks for your reply, I am not sure if SIP 5060 is blocked, could you please check on your end as I am not in BD.
I am very much aware of SIp technology just wanted to have a look at SIP configuration page of AWB router please post a print screen … as the firmware of AWB router looks modified to banglaloin specs (as you can see they have their logo and everything on configuration page as I have seen on your posted print screens) and they have plans to start the VOIP service they might have restricted the re-configuration of the VOIP in AWB router.

So all I want to see is the print screen of the VOIP configuration page.

Also please could you check that 5060 is open or otherwise i can use any other port, if VOIP is blocked in BD then it will not work anyway then probably you will require a licensed broadband lines which will be allowed to carry VOIP traffic.

Nonetheless this is unsure unless you have tested voip service on a computer working on Banglaloin WiMax.

        Kind Regards,
        Fawad

  16. rabiuls

    Hello Fawad,
Just today I talked to the distributor & he informed me that Banglalion has not started the VOIP service yet. I guess they (the distributor) are also very interested for this, and they would use this commercially as soon as Banglalion starts the service. He also informed that if someone has the separate VOIP setup, he can use the AW3 router to attach the phone. I could not understand what does that mean anyway.

Personally I am not interested in VOIP or any other telephony. And don’t know much about these. See the ‘Image-3′ above, ‘wifi’ is marked, left to it is the ‘VoIP’. Inside this there is configuration for SIP account. Probably you need to work/test here.

I used nmap to determine which port is open. See the Image-6, you will find that port 80, 23 and 53 are open:

    http://rabiuls.wordpress.com/2011/05/22/rough-pad/

You can try to get a Banglalion IP for test, then run nmap using another computer with different IP and make the test IP to scan for open ports.

    nmap for windows download link:

    http://nmap.org/dist/nmap-5.51-setup.exe

    Best of luck.

I have Banglalion Max connection in my home with desktop computer. Now I want to setup wireless router and I want to use my laptop how can it possible? Please give reply.

    • rabiuls

The same way you did it for your desktop. There is nothing to do with the router to introduce your laptop. Connection will be shared, speed will be slowed.

1.Question: What Is a Computer Ping Test?

In computer networking, ping is a specific method for sending messages from one computer to another. But what exactly is a ping test?

Answer: A ping test determines whether your computer can communicate with another computer over the network. Then, if network communication is established, ping tests also determine the connection latency (technical term for delay) between the two computers.

      Example : Router Eithernet port
      Pc Eithernet port
      Switch Switch port

    hey Rabiul Vai,
I have the usb dongle of Banglalion at home. Now, I require to connect 3 devices together. My PC, my laptop, and SONY Bravia TV.
For this, do I need to buy the Indoor Unit again or can I buy a wifi router and somehow connect the USB dongle and make successive connections with all the devices??
    Can you help with this?

    • rabiuls

      Hello hobilla bhai,
With the indoor unit this can be done, which you already understand. But it is good to test if the dongle works with wifi router to share connection at the same time. Then again, would it not cheaper to buy a Banglalion indoor unit than buying a wifi router?

Anyway, I don’t have any practical experience about this, also I don’t know about the wifi interface of Sony Bravia TV. So, you may ask someone who has practical knowledge of using these. Thank you and take care.

    • Ariful Alam

Why buying a router/indoor unit so fast. try making a personal hotspot using your laptop’s wlan and usb dongle. in windows 7, you can share your internet as ad hoc connection. or use a software like ‘connectify’.

    • rabiuls

      Hello dr. web,
It is mentioned above. Either you have to do “Restore to Factory Default” from “Basic Setup” ( web browser interface through http://192.168.1.1 ), or press and hold the Reset button for a few seconds. The button is located at the bottom of the device, and before pressing it, turn the device ON and give it some time to find the frequency.

      Take care.

  20. Jas im

    Dear rabiul bhai,

After buying AWB RG231 indoor modem in last month, I noticed that my admin panel of modem is quite different from the manual and their advance setup option (http://www.banglalionwimax.com/index.php/customer-support/getting-started or http://www.banglalionwimax.com/images/AWB_RG231-_03.jpg).

I don’t have the advance features like NAT, Firewall etc(http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/823/30590836.jpg/). Now, I need to disable the DHCP in my modem to bridge another router and to do it, i have to access the advance Router function of modem.

Is there any way to access those settings?
    Which modem do you have?

    regards,
    Jasim

  21. shahriar

it really worked for me. the only change i had to make is the password. the password is not 123456. its the password that is assigned by BL along with the user id.

      Hello,
Thanks for your comment. I found Banlalion wimax indoor unit is automatically detected plus connected (after asking the password) on linux – Ubuntu and Mint. These days, I don’t use linux much, so can’t tell you the inside tuning etc much. I almost forgot everything. Try by yourself. And hope you will be successful.

      Best regards.

  27. Zamam

Can I use an additional router with banglalion’s AW3 indoor modem to get better speed in mobile device? I’m using 1mbps speed . It takes more than one minute to download 1mb data.

  28. Brian D' Rozario

Hello there. I was looking for a way for sharing the Bangla Lion WiMAX USB modem internet connection. Here’s the scenario:
    1. USB WiMAX modem is connected to desktop.
    2. Desktop has an ethernet port.
    3. Internet connection will be shared via the desktop’s ethernet port to my TP-LINK (model: WR340GD) wifi router.

The problem that I’m facing is that I could successfully share the USB WiMAX connection to the WiFi router’s LAN but for some reason the WiFi interface (i.e. the wireless interface) somehow cannot see the internet. Meaning, the WiFi enabled devices cannot connect to the internet where as any device connected to the router’s LAN port can connect via the desktop’s shared connection of the USB WiMAX modem.

Can anyone here help or has done this successfully. The point is to have internet connection on all interfaces. I can easily buy an indoor unit but this is part of a challenge of network configuration and it’ll help many who might have devices lying around.

    Thanks and regards

I don’t know why is this happening. Check that the javascript is enabled in browser, and no antivirus program is interfering. If it is not working with firefox, try internet explorer or vice versa.

Hi . I have a problem . when i put my username and password it does not show anything . I tried many times but doesn’t happen anything .

    • rabiuls

      Hello Farhan,
Probably Banglalion has released or now selling new devices with different settings, I am not sure though. If this is the case, then the method I wrote will not work. Unless seeing/testing the device nothing can be said. The best way is to try by yourself or contact them – Banglalion people.

      Best of luck.

  38. syfee

Hi, I just bought a banglalion wimax indoor modem from my friend. The modem looks good and the lights are also ON . But when i connect the LAN cable to my laptop, i cannot see anything happening! Its not connecting, neither i can go to the adress: http://192.168.1.1. Please Help !

    • rabiuls

      Hello,
I am not sure. But don’t let any antivirus or addon (like “noscript”) stop script on your browser for http://192.168.1.1 . If you already don’t have these filters and javascript is working for 192.168.1.1 then perhaps the device is out of order.

By the way, when the device is on, do you see any available wifi network on your computer?

  39. Hasnat

    Hello Mr. Rabiul,

I did not sure that there is a page on that issue. Thanks for your effort.

I have a indoor device and nowadays i am having download and upload ratio problem. The upload is becoming 1/8 on the ratio of download. I talked to the support team, they suggest me to go to the support plaza to update the firmware.

Now, its a bit hassle to go to the plaza to make the task done. Its nothing but consuming the time. If i do get the latest firmware, i can do the job in my home.

Could you please suggest me on that issue or can provide me the firmware?

    The model is AW3.

    thanks in advance.

    Hasnat

    • rabiuls

      Hello Mr. Hasanat.

I also get lower upload speed than the download speed. I used several ISPs, and found all with the same result – upload & download speed is not equal. I am not very much optimistic about the increase of your upload speed, if you contact with them – BanglaLion staffs. I think the practical solution would be to move to a package with higher speed than you are having at present. But this will cost you money.

Once I downloaded the firmware from the web. If you google, you may also find that. But probably that will not help. As the manufacturer made the firmware specially for BanglaLion – that is, the compiled firmware contains information about which server to look for. There could be other, like Qubee etc. The firmware I downloaded did not have any information about for which service provider it was built for.

I refrain from uploading the firmware, as many new user may destroy their device by loading/upgrading it without understanding. The firmware is probably built with “u boot” or “OpenWrt”. I can’t remember now. You can get the source code for those, then comes device, then all the server info etc. etc. I lost interest at last.

Ok, then…. Thanks for your comment. Wish you best of luck.

      Salaam.

  40. arshiful

    hello rabiul bhai,
i have a serious issue with my router, its been more than a year that i am using AW3 (white one) router for banglalion. Now that it is more than a year my router isnt working properly. As u already know that there are four types of function for different types of light on the router. 1) power (yellow) 2) WIFI (blue) 3)WPS (blue) 4) Connection strength (7 blue dots). So now the problem: the WIFI light/function isnt working anymore. and hence i have to use the cable to use the internet via the router. IT USED TO WORK TOTALLY FINE!!
And besides i went through your article above and followed as per your instructions and found out that IN THE “ENABLE WIFI” section the “RADIO ENABLE” is disabled. Should i enable it? Is this the cause for the problem or my router is malfunctioned. I cannot sort out the main cause because BANGLALION TOWER to ROUTER wireless connection is working fine But ROUTER to LAPTOP wireless connection is not working. SHOULD I CHANGE MY ROUTER? OR GIVE IT A TRY BY ENABLING THAT RADIO or whatever that is?
    PLS help.

    • rabiuls

      Hello Arshiful bhai,
Try by enabling it. If you think there might be configuration issue with your windows, you can download any livecd like Ubuntu or Mint to check. These are configured and straight make the connection, after you enter the “Key” when prompted.

    hey bro, thanks a lot
I followed the steps you have described but my wifi light of the device(banglalion router) is not stable (or dont light up) after rebooting.
    What can I do now?

    Help Please!

    • rabiuls

      Hello,
If it’s working ok sometimes and sometimes not, check the basic thing – the power supply adapter (which I faced already). Check it with a multimeter whether it is supplying 12v dc, or better if you have any other 12v adapter in house – use it for the router and see the behavior. Specially the connector jack, attach it firmly to the router. Testing with another adapter will be good, as the old one may show 12v or more on the multimeter, but it may fail to keep/feed that voltage when connected to the device, constantly.

If it fails, then you may have to take it to the professionals or Banglalion office to repair. Although once I opened the device, I do not think you and I can repair it by exchanging text messages :) Hope you have I understood the real thing – that I don’t have the knowledge :(

      Best regards.

Rabiul Vai,Can’t access into my router.Username & pass everything is ok but can’t access.I want to enable my WiFi.

  43. AHM Ashfaque Hossain

    Dear Rabiul vai,
I want to know about WPS and how to set up it in Banglalion Wi-Fi Modem AW3? Please describe it step by step. is WPS helpful for security? I want to apply maximum security in my router.

    • rabiuls

      Dear Ashfaque Bhai,

I think I don’t have WPS in my router, according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wi-Fi_Protected_Setup , which is introduced recently.

I normally check and block by using the router’s Firewall settings, mostly “MAC Filtering” & “URL Filtering”. Though I did not get any intruder before, sometimes I have to block some devices of my own younger family members – who give up their study & normal life and get stuck to the internet. So, sometimes I block their IP and keep it open only for certain hours (trying to break the habit and you know internet addiction is a serious problem now).

Anyway, I can see which devices are connected to my router from the “MAC Filtering”. So, I can disable them from there, or I can also change the security key. Whichever is needed to make the intruder frustrated and give up trying.

Then, the router is not that powerful. It is located at the center of our house. I don’t think that the frequency at every room is strong enough. So, it is impossible for someone to get the frequency from outside, or it would be too weak to be of any use. Don’t worry.

      Best of luck.

Lets say have one 2Mbps Banglalion line(AWB modem) at my office connected via wire under one network and usage is going up to where we need more bandwidth.

We need to add a second 2Mbps line for higher capacity.

This is why we add second 2Mbps B. Lion line over two WAN port router and then switch. In both configuration pattern they are balancing not increasing Bandwidth.

Exactly how do I add that second line to give us twice the capacity of just one line?

    2Mbps+2Mbps=4Mbps

Actually how to combine two banglalion modem?

    Thanks,

hello rabiul vai, besically i m related in voip business.i m using banglalion indoor modem for this.but here i get very slow net speed.sometimes i got download speed like 1.23mbps/1.07mbps/0.64mbps/0.35mbps/.26mbps etc.& up load speed get only 0.12mbps/0.09 mbps/0.07 mbps/0.06 mbps like this.in my modem i get CNR-20dbm to 25dbm & RSSI -70dbm to -75dbm.so rabiul vai i need to speed up my internet.i get many software in internet(by goggle search) for faster speed but i cant rely that kind of software bcoz is that software is compatible for my banglalion modem?vaiya, can u help me for how to get my net speed very fast?if u response i will grateful to u.
    muneer

(basically i need speed up my upload speed like 0.35mbps to 0.28mbps.download speed is ok now)

    • rabiuls

      Hello Munir Bhai,

I do not think there is any software which can increase internet speed. The download managers/accelerators opens more than 1 connection for the file it is going to fetch. Say, the target file size 1000kb. 1st connection would start downloading from 1b and stop at 250kb, 2nd connection starts from 251kb — stops at 500kb, and the 3rd and 4th this way. All these simultaneously, finally they would merge the chunks in 1 file. This way they download faster. But many sites do not allow more than 1 connection from any IP for file downloading, there the download managers can’t do anything. I do not know much about VOIP and how it works, ie, sending and receiving data. Sorry I can’t tell anything. Take care.

      Best regards.

i hav ruter of 512 kbs speed ,it is ok with the laptops, but with the iphone n other mobile, it send only 8 kbs/s speed. how can i get better speed (40 or 50) in iphone ????????

      • Rabiul

        @Ratna kc

It is probably the iphone that causing the reduced speed. I do not
know about iphone. Perhaps, there are other applications on your
iphone, which using your internet bandwidth. Check the running
applications on your iphone and kill/stop the application that you
        don’t need.

I am telling this from Android view. From Android you can view running
applications and kill them with “ES Task Manager” or “Advanced Task
Killer” or something like that. But I don’t know how to do this on
        iphone.

        regards.

Same thing here. I am running 1mbps at my home but getting very low speed with my iPhone and nokia.
As I get 1mbps at my office wifi, I think it is not the phone issue.

    • rabiuls

    • rabiuls

Try Internet Explorer or something else. It should work. I don’t know any other way (probably there is no other way) to get the router interface.

  53. banglalion

hey i need some help, i use windows xp, my Banglalion modem isn’t working, i have install the driver but now it shows no modem, how can i solve that

      • rabiuls

        Hello,
I don’t have much idea of the USB modems. I heard that new modems don’t have an interface like the old ones, where you could put your username and password and then click connect or disconnect. Rather, with these new modems, you give your username and password at the first installation time, and it would connect to the net automatically later on. Personally I have not tested. So, can’t say anything for sure. It would be good to ask their service/care center.

  54. ARahman

the only option i did not like about QUBEE Tower Modem is : i can not change the device admin password !!
so when my friends visit me, he wants to use my qubee wifi, i write the wifi password by my own hand into his device,
but when he gets the connection, he also gets the gateway ip & he can easily access the device with that ip & default user name & password which is admin admin.

it it same for BanglaLion Indoor Modem ?

    • rabiuls

It is possible to change the device accessing password from the web interface (System->Administrator). I am talking about the old Banglalion router AWB, don’t know whether this option is available with the new ones.

      • ARahman

last question : if we download the Latest Firmware from AWB website, can we upgrade the device (Indoor WiFi) Firmware & use it with BanglaLion ?

      • rabiuls

Probably no. The present firmware inside the router, knows the address of the Banglalion server to connect. I don’t think the firmware from the AWB has these addresses. May be Banglalion got special firmware for them, others can buy for their own companies/servers. Not sure.

  55. anik@beximtex.com

    hi Rabiul vai,

my AW3 modem taking too much time to linkup with netwok, it takes around 10+min to connect. my CINR value is around 10db to 15db & RSSI value is around -65dbm to -80 dbm. also connection is several times dropped & again it takes 5-10min to reconnect with network. pls give me a solution.

    Regards
    Anik

    • rabiuls

      Hello Anik bhai,
I too face this problem sometimes. This is a Banglalion problem. Before 2/3 days, they sent a sms telling that they are doing something with BTRC which may interrupt service. Probably you also got the sms, check your inbox.

But if this is a hardware problem, I don’t think there is anything to do. You can try a factory reset. Or, take the router to a friend’s house who get’s proper signal and can connect without problem. Check your router there to be confirmed whether it is network or hardware problem.

  56. Yeamin

Hey! I’ve lost my banglalion username and password. And i updated my windows. So everything has been gone. I can’t open http://192.168.1.1 . I am seeing “unable to connect internet” because banglalion need username and user id to connect internet. Please help me.

    • rabiuls

Even if you have reinstalled window, you should get the web interface of the router through 192.168.1.1. Without getting this you can’t reach for further settings.

    • Parvez

Log in with “Operator” and password is “Operator” Now change your desired admin to use. But remember don’t try to change this master account. If you change and forget this master account then there will be no option left to use your device any more. Even the customer manager will be unable to solve it.

    • rabiuls

If you remember the username and password, you could do a reset, which would erase the previous username and password, and allow you to re-enter those. I do not know any way to retrieve these information from the device.

The customer care will probably use the device MAC address and search their database to get the username and password. Even in that case they may want to see the papers to confirm the ownership of the device.

Hope you have understood this is probably done to prevent use of unauthorized or stolen device. Else anyone might try to get a device illegally and start using that. But sometimes this information is needed for legal purpose too, for example one may want to buy a secondhand device that does not have the papers – nor username+password. What to do then?? Practically nothing.

      Best regards.

      • Parvez

I could understand you. But I saw on my own that the use the same gateway to repair or instruct the modem as per desire. In my case i need the admin and password that is used by the customer care services to get full access on my device. I need some more option to add on this to value my usage. I have been facing some undesired events since I change the firmware version of the device. SO I would like to request you to give me the password and the user name to let me do my job properly not more than that.

      • rabiuls

With the old routers that mentioned here “AWB” had default username and password, which is also mentioned on the post –

        Username: admin
        Password: admin

I don’t know whether they (Banglalion) have changed this or not. Can’t help you brother..

      • Parvez

Before last update I had a lots of menu in my router (AWB) but now it has only a few in previous I could see who are online or offline. Now I can only see the numbers of client like 1-2 so I was talking about this. Thanks for your co-operation.

      • rabiuls

This is really sad to know that you lost several features due to the update. Hope, others who wants to upgrade will know this problem from your post and think twice!

      • rabiuls

Found here some usernames as “operator” – https://sites.google.com/site/vineetssite/networking-guide-domain/wireless-networking/router-default-username-and-passwords

By the way, why aren’t you visiting the Banglalion service center? If you have the purchase papers then no problem, even if you don’t have those – let’s see what do they want to say. Probably you may find a good person who would help you to downgrade the firmware. They can do it easily, question is will they bother to do. Try it, as almost no other option is left.

I have updated my indoor router and after that the previous options like NAT, port forwarding etc. are disappeared though my router and port forwarding which was setup before upgrade is working fine. Do you have any idea how can get to that screen and change the current settings? Thanks in advance.

On the browser, go to http://192.168.1.1 and login as before,
      Username: admin
      Password: admin
Click on “Advanced Setup”. Click on “Wi-Fi” (Image – 3)
      wi-fi

      Image – 3

      Make
      “Radio Enable” – Enable
      “Network Mode” – 802.11 B/G/N mixed
      “SSID” – CUSTOMIZED
Type a name for your network (replace ‘Your-Name’ on the image bellow), which will be shown on other device as ‘this’ wireless connection is available.

    Hello vai,
Excellent Thread, i must say !! Its a must read ^_^
Anyways, my question is off the topic, but i need a solution. I have a D-Link DSL-2750U N300 Wireless ADSL router and a BANGLALION USB modem. I want to convert the USB modem to ethernet input in my router so that i can enjoy WiFi around my house. Just a heads up, my modem also has a USB port but i am unsure to plug my modem into it. PLEASE HELP :( i don’t know much about networking.

    • rabiuls

      Hello Nafi,
Your modem has built-in driver for windows, which you have installed at the first time. So that when you plug in, windows can recognize it. Now, does your router have the driver, or option to install it? Probably no. Some routers have gsm usb modem (sim card operated) driver built-in for various models. But not for wimax. So not possible I think.

      Best regards.

      • Nafi

Oh !! That’s bad news then. Then probably i will buy the Gigaset of Qubee and install that with the router. Thanks for the help brother.

        Best wishes.

  65. Khaleda

hello bhia. I have one post paid modem with me which I use for my PC but now I use internet on my mobile also. do I have to buy a wifi router for wifi connection on my mobile? Can’t wifi be connected with the modem I use? If I buy a router then I don’t have to use the modem then..it’ll be useless but I need wifi for my mobile. What to do?

    • rabiuls

      Hello Khaleda,

Sorry, you can’t use the dongle for mobile yet now. There is no solution so far as I know. But I may be wrong, so you should try by yourself by searching google or by discussing with your friends.

Meanwhile, there is a solution which is not so strong, but workable. I told about it already, probably you’ve missed. Which is, to use the dongle with computer as usual, to access internet. And, run a program (like connectify, or there are many others which are free, google to find) to make a wifi hotspot on your computer. Access internet from your mobile or other devices using the hotspot running on your computer. The main disadvantage is, you have to run your computer, to make the wifi hotspot, even if you may have nothing to do with the computer and you were going to access internet while lying on the bed.

      Anyway, best of luck.

      Best regards.

I don’t have anything to do, this was done by wordpress’ spam filtering system. Usually, some message is stored as unapproved – if filtered, later if I check I may approve it (don’t check often). But this time I don’t see your long message. Honestly, I don’t have much idea about how the wordpress works.
