Assalamualaikum.
Recently I bought a Symphony W5 mobile – Android 2.3. This is a cheap mobile (Tk. 6,700/=) with good feature. Other one – model W10 with a slightly higher price is little bigger in size than W5, but slower than W5. So, got myself the W5. But one thing is missing from W5 (probably from the W10 too) – the notification light for missed call or unread SMS (led on mobile blinks at a few seconds interval).
Edit: A solution/alternative to this can be a 3rd party app, like “Missed Call Reminder v1” – there is an upgraded version of this app too – but not required for Symphony W5. The upgraded version blinks backlight of the touch key, which doesn’t work on this device. This can be installed directly from google play store:

I am giving the details bellow which may be helpful if any of you are interested to root your Symphony W5. Since you are reading this, I understand that you are involved in tweaking default things – be it mobile or other platform. You may know that Symphony W5 is based on Mediatek’s MT6575 chip. Do not use just any ROM (for other mobile), flashing software or scatter file you find on the web for MT6575, unless you definitely know it works. This may brick your phone. At least, I bricked my one – soft bricked. Later got it fixed by the service center. It was my fault, not to make a backup before flashing (it is possible to hard brick – mobile will not be detected by USB at all). Some of you may not understand about what I am talking about. Read on, and probably you will know. Finally, I take no responsibility.
Let’s start…
You have to arrange a “micro USB OTG cable” and “USB male to male cable/connector”. This is the hardest part for you I think. Probably you will not find the OTG cable easily. You may search at the shops who sell Samsung Galaxy Tab – Android 4. Ask them if they have cable to connect keyboard or pendrive, to their Galaxy Tab. Other option is to make one by yourself, which I did. I shall not describe the procedure of making it, since there are lot of good tutorials on the web, youtube. Google for “DIY microusb OTG cable” or “How to make microusb OTG cable” etc. Thing is, you have to short/connect/solder ‘pin 4’, with ‘pin 5’ at the microusb/smaller side of the cable.
A tip for you, do not use the cable that came with your Symphony set or any other cheap cable or one from the dead charger. Probably you will not be able to cut these properly to get the pins to solder. You may also not get 5 pins, you will see 4 pins only. Use/buy a good cable and modify that. I have destroyed few cables. I could not reach the pins by cutting. It was hard like cement & pressing it deeper destroyed the other attached cables/pins. But with a better cable, it was done easily. And finally when it is time for soldering, use flux to make it easier and perfect. If you don’t have soldering arrangement, take it to a repair shop and show them where to solder. After soldering, It is good to check with a multimeter that other pins are not shorted by solder bridge (this may damage your phone).
Make Windows Clean & Manageable:
Hope, you have managed the OTG cable. Keep your mobile 100% charged. Now we have to flash the unlocked ROM in the mobile. I have done this on windows 7, and will describe the procedure according to that way. If you have tried to root this W5 or other android before, and installed various USB drivers, please remove them all. Start this on a fresh windows. Before installing the required drivers, create a restore point. To create a restore point, click Start, type “restore” in the search box. Windows will show several options, click on “Create a restore point”.

Next, click on Create button, enter a description like ‘symphony’ and click Create. This will create a restore point with no usb driver for your mobile, a fresh system.
When you need to restore/go-back your system to this ‘restore point’, click on “Restore system files and settings from a restore point” (See Image – 1). To get your restore point ‘symphony’ you may have to check “Choose a different restore point”. See Image – 3 bellow:

The above process will be needed when/if we need to change mobile phone’s IMEI. However, it’s good to have a clean restore point. If anything goes wrong, we can get it back.
Install Driver & Tools:
Download site:
* Go to http://sdrv.ms/Ra2RW7
Install Driver:
* Download and extract “MT6575 USB VCOM drivers.7z” on your computer.
* Turn off your mobile. Remove battery, wait 3/5 seconds, and insert the battery again (battery should be fully charged).
* Insert USB OTG cable to the mobile and plug the other end to your computer.
* Click on Start –> Control Panel –> Device Manager. You should see an Unknown device as bellow (Image – 4):

* Now, if you remove/unplug the USB cable from the computer, it should disappear. Plug again and it should appear. If not, there is problem, probably with your OTG cable. If you connect it with normal USB cable, the “Unknown device” will appear, and within a second or two it will disappear, and will reappear – endless loop.
* Hope, the OTG cable and everything is ok – when you plug it “Unknown device” appears and stays. Right click on it, click on “Update Driver Software…”, click “Browse my computer for driver software”. Click on browse, go to the folder where you have extracted “MT6575 USB VCOM drivers” and select “Win7” folder, click OK. It may ask your confirmation for installing the drivers, click “Install this driver software anyway”.
After a successful installation you should see something like bellow (Image – 5), although COM port might be different, it’s ok:

Driver installation is complete. Get the tools and rom file to flash now.
Tools:
* Download and extract “SP_Flash_Tool_v3.1224.01.7z” from the site mentioned above.
* Download and extract “ROM-Boot.7z” from the site mentioned above.
* Connect the mobile with OTG cable as before (power off + remove battery + wait few seconds + insert battery). Check Device Manager –> Ports to make sure it is detected as “MTK USB Port” or something like that.
* From the SP Flash Tool folder, run “Flash_tool.exe”. First we will try to Read from the mobile, if it is successful, we will write.
* On the SP Flash Tool click on “Scatter-loading” button or “File –> Open Scatter-loading File…”. Browse to folder where you extracted “ROM-Boot.7z”, go to folder “Test-Read-Back”, and open “MT6575_Android_scatter.txt”. For “Download Agent” make sure it is “MTK_AllInOne_DA.bin”. Check only the “BOOTIMG”. See Image – 6 bellow:

* Click on “Read Back” tab. Click “Add”. Double click “PageSpare”. See Image – 7:

* Type a filename like boot.img and click save.
* A configure window will come. For Type check “Hex”. For Read Method – “Read Page Only”. Enter Start Address as 0x5C0000. Enter Length as 0xA00000. Click OK, and then click “Read Back”. See Image – 8:

* If the operation is successful, you will get a message that it was OK. Image – 9:

* The boot.img you get, is the original image. Keep it, in case you need in future. However, I am also including the original boot.img with the archive. In case you need to get back, use it.
* Now we will write unprotected ROM.
[ If you can’t read from your mobile, please recheck the steps mentioned earlier. Try again. It should work. ]
* Unplug the USB OTG cable and repeat the steps as before if necessary – power off + remove battery + wait few seconds + insert battery. And plug it to the computer. Check Device Manager to make sure it is detected as before.
* Run “Flash_tool.exe” if it is not running already. Click on “Scatter-loading” button and go to extracted “ROM-Boot.7z” folder, go to “Symphony-Unprotected-Bootimage” folder and select/open “MT6575_Android_scatter.txt”.
* IMPORTANT: Uncheck the PRELOADER. Check only BOOTIMG. Double click BOOTIMG to select “boot-un-pt.img” if it is already not selected. See the image – 10 bellow:

* Make sure that you have unchecked PRELOADER. But the file “preloader_gionee75cu_nand_gb2.bin” should be in the folder. Without this file it would not go to download mode. Just uncheck it on SP Flash Tool.
* Click on “Download” or press F9 key. It will start writing. If the write operation is successful, you will get an “OK” message as before. If you happen to get up to this, then the hard part is over. Unplug USB, remove and reinsert battery, finally turn on your phone.
* On your Symphony, go to Settings –> Application –> Applications. Check “Unknown sources”.
* On your Symphony, go to Settings –> Application –> Applications –>Development. Check “USB debugging”, check “Allow mock locations”.
* Download & extract “SuperOneClickv2.3.1-ShortFuse” from site mentioned above.
* Connect your mobile to computer with the normal USB cable (the one which came with it for charging, not OTG). Ignore, if windows shows any device driver not found error.
* Run “SuperOneClick.exe” from the extracted folder. Click “Root” button (Image – 11). This will install necessary driver, and ask you for confirmation. Click “Yes”. It will ask you for confirmation about several other options, for a few times more. Always click yes or ok. Your phone would be rooted.

* This is the end of rooting Symphony W5.
Using Clockworkmod Recovery:
With the Clockworkmod Recovery, you will be able to backup & restore ROM on SD Card. The procedure is similar as above – using SP Flash Tool. Earlier you made a “write” for boot.img and this time you would write recovery.img.
* Download & extract “ROM-RECOVERY.7z” from the site above.
* Prepare your phone – power off + remove battery + wait few seconds + insert battery, and connect with OTG cable to the computer.
* From the SP Flash Tool folder, run “Flash_tool.exe”. Click on “Scatter-loading” button and go to folder ROM-RECOVERY\Modified-ROM-CWMR\. Open “MT6575_Android_scatter.txt”
* Uncheck PRELOADER. Check RECOVERY. If it is not already pointing to “recovery_un_pt.img”, select it by double clicking RECOVERY.
* Click Download button. Image – 12:

* Hope you get the OK message. And CWMR is installed.
* Remove USB cable and battery from the mobile, reinsert battery. On the mobile, press and hold down Volume Up button and press Power button (while vol up is pressed – which means you have to press both the button at the same time). You should see CWMR window. You can move up or down by the Vol up/down key. You can do this with your Home and Menu button too. To enter an option, use Find button. To get back to previous menu, use Back button on your mobile. There should be a SD Card to make a backup.
* Original recovery image is also included in the archive.
* End of using CWMR.
Changing/Restoring IMEI using SN Write Tool/Station
For some reason you may have lost/erased your phone’s IMEI. There are several ways to restore it. You will get your original IMEI printed on a sticker. Remove battery to get it. To know about how to backup and restore IMEI, visit this link:

I shall describe the procedure of writing IMEI by using SN Writer Version 2.1212.0. This is for Mediatek’s MT6575 chip, which I have tested (Symphony W5 is based on MT6575). Can’t say whether it would work or not for other models. Anyway, try this method at the last time, if the methods from above link fail.
[ I don’t feel it’s a reliable software and no documentation too. There is a Chinese document though. But I can’t read Chinese. However, it works. ]
Ok, lets start…
* Download & extract “IMEI Change For Mtk6575.7z” from the site mentioned above.
* Remove all USB drivers you have installed before for your android. This time, it is good to get back to the restore point, (if) you created earlier.
* Prepare your phone – power off + remove battery + wait few seconds + insert battery, and connect with OTG cable to the computer.
* On the Device Manager, right click on “Unknown device”, click “Update Driver Software”, click “Browse my computer for driver software”, and point to folder “IMEI Change For Mtk6575 Setup\IMEI Change For Mtk6575\Special Driver\IMEI\CDC Serial”. Click on “Install this driver software anyway” if asked by windows.
* After installation remove the OTG cable from the PC and mobile.
* Connect normal USB cable which is used for charging the mobile set (not OTG). Do not connect it to PC. Just make it ready by connecting to the mobile. We would need it after a while.
* Install SN Write Station Tool. Double click SN_STATION.msi or setup.exe, found inside the extracted folder.
* Write your two IMEI on notepad.exe and keep the notepad running. We would copy these numbers and paste on SN_Station.
* An icon will be created on your desktop as SN_STATION, if not you have to find “C:\Program Files\MTK_SN_Write_tool\SN_STATION.exe”. Run it. On the “Connection Setting” -> “COM PORT” select USB VCOM. See Image – 13 bellow and arrange everything like it:

* Click on “Modem Database” button and select file – “BPLGUInfoCustomAppSrcP_MT6575_S01_MAUI_11AMD_W11_50_SP_V13_P4”, click on “AP Database” and select file – “APDB_MT6575_S01_ALPS.GB2.MP_”. Both files can be found inside the extracted folder.
* Click on the menu “BT & IMEI” -> “IMEI SVN & PAD”. Check Enable SVN PAD, uncheck Auto Cal CheckSum. For IMEI SVN enter value 10, for IMEI PAD enter value 2. Click OK. See Image – 14:

* Restart SN Write Station Tool. Make sure the settings made by you is still there.
* Click on the Start button and enter your two IMEI (copy/paste from the notepad you started). After entering IMEI, click OK. Now attach the USB cable to PC, which you prepared earlier. Do all these as quickly as you can.
* This would write the IMEI. On successful write, Write Result Indicator will turn green and another IMEI input window will come for entering IMEI if you have more mobiles. Click cancel.
If it was unsuccessful. Try the steps bellow:
1. Try again. At the first time, windows might have made some delay by initializing drivers. Test again by repeating the steps.
2. Remove USB from PC, remove battery from mobile and place after few seconds. Restart SN Write Station Tool, and repeat the process.
3. Remove USB from PC, remove battery from mobile. Restart SN Write Station Tool, and repeat the process. This time you are connecting it without battery.
4. Remove USB from PC, remove battery from mobile. Restart SN Write Station Tool, and repeat the process. Place battery quickly just after connecting the USB to PC.

না ভাই, আমি ঢাকায় থাকি না, আর ফেইসবুক ব্যবহার করিনা। রুট করার পর আমি Facebook, Twitter, Skype এসব System file মুছে ফেলেছি 🙂
হয়তো আমার লিখার পদ্ধতিটা ঠিক হয়নি, তাই আপনার কাছে কঠিন বলে মনে হচ্ছে। ব্যপারটা কিন্ত আসলে সহজ। preloader_gionee75cu_nand_gb2.bin এর ব্যপারটা না লিখলেও পারতাম, এটা হয়তো অনেককে ধাঁধায় ফেলে দেবে। মূলত এ ব্যপারে ভাবারই দরকার নেই, শুধু PRELOADER uncheck করুন, আর BOOTIMG বা RECOVERY check করুন।
আর DIY OTG cable এর Soldering এর ব্যপারে কোন Mobile Phone Repair Center এর সাহায্য নিন। ইনশাল্লাহ্ আপনি সফল হবেন।

যাই হোক, একেক manufacturer একেক রকম ভাবে design করে। এই Symphony W5 এর ক্ষেত্রে যদি আপনি OTG cable ব্যবহার না করে সাধারন USB cable ব্যবহার করেন, আপনি দেখতে পাবেন Windows একবার একে detect করছে, আবার ছেড়ে দিচ্ছে, আবার detect করছে, আবার ছেড়ে দিচ্ছে – এটা চলতেই থাকবে (যখন mobile off করে USB লাগাবেন – flashing এর জন্য, mobile on করে নয়)।
আপনার কোন বন্ধু বা পরিচিত জনের যদি Samsung Galaxy Tab – Android Version 4 (or any other brand with “Android Version 4”), থাকে, উনার অরিজিনাল প্যাকেটের সাথে OTG Cable থাকার কথা। থাকলে কিছুক্ষন ব্যবহারের জন্য নিতে পারেন। তারপরও, USB male to male cable বা connector লাগবে। এটা পাওয়া যায়। আমি একটা connector কিনেছিলাম একশ টাকা দিয়ে।
একবার CWMR install করে rom backup করে নিলে, এই cable এর তেমন আর দরকার নেই। Backup folder টি আপনি ভালো একটি DVD তে Record করে নিয়ে SD Card থেকে মুছে ফেলতে পারেন space free করার জন্য। পরে ROM customize করতে গিয়ে কোন ভূল হয়ে গেলে, DVD থেকে folder টি SD Card এ copy করে CWMR থেকে Restore করলে আবার সব আগের মতো হয়ে যাবে।
যাই হোক, এই পদ্ধতিতে একবারের জন্য হলেও OTG cable লাগবে। অথবা অপেক্ষা করতে হবে কেউ অন্য কোন উপায় বের করতে পারে কিনা।

ভাইয়া, আমি যদি সেটটি ব্রিক করে ফেলি তবেতো কাস্টোমার কেয়ার থেকে ঠিক করিয়ে আনা যাবে, তাইনা ?? এই ক্ষেত্রে যেহেতু ওয়ারেন্টি কাজ করবেনা তাই কত টাকা সার্ভিসিং কস্ট হতে পারে একটুকি বলবেন ?
ব্রিক হবার তেমন কোন সম্ভাবনা নেই। তারপরও আল্লাহ্ না করুক যদি ভূলবশত ব্রিক করেই ফেলেন, সিম্ফোনীর সার্ভিস সেন্টার ঠিক করে দেবে। ফ্রী করে দেবে, “ওয়ারেন্টি কাজ করবেনা…” একথা বলছেন কেন? আমাকে তো দিয়েছে – কোন প্রশ্নও করেনি। আমারটা ব্রিক হয়েছিল আমার ভূলে। আমি backup না করেই সহজে রুট করার জন্য অন্য mobile এর ROM flash করেছিলাম, আর SP Flash tool ও latest version ব্যবহার করেছিলাম। আপনার তো আর সেরকম পরীক্ষা করার দরকার নেই। যে software আর ROM দেয়া আছে নিয়মমতো সেগুলোই ব্যবহার করুন।

কোন অসুবিধা নেই। ভালো হয়েছে আপনি পোস্ট করায়। Original ROM আছে, কিন্ত বিশাল সাইজ, আমার ইন্টারনেট স্পিডে আপলোড করায় সমস্যা। কিন্ত এটার দরকার কি? কিছু ফাইল আপনি কখনোই flash করতে যাবেননা। তার মধ্যে একটি PRELOADER – আর আপনি রুট করার পর নিজেই ROM backup করতে পারবেন। Web এ Tutorial পাবেন।

এটাই কি তবে স্টক রম ?
কিন্তু, “Backing up cache” আর Backing up sd-ext” এই দুটি অপশন বুঝিনি । উল্লেখ্য, আমি গত রাতে CWMR এর সাহায্যেই এসডি কার্ড পার্টিশন করেছিলাম ।
আরোও একটি প্রশ্ন ভাইয়া । আমি এভাবে ব্যাকআপ করার পর, sd/cloclworkmod/ এর ভেতরে backup ar blobs ফোল্ডার দুটি রয়েছে । Backup এর ভেতরে আজকের তারিখের একটি ফোল্ডাররয়েছে ৩১০ মেগাবাইটের । এর ভেতরে ৭টা ফাইল রয়েছেঃ boot.img, cache.yaffs2.img, data.yaffs2.img, nandroid.md5, recovary.img, sd-ext.ext2.dup, system.yaffs2.img ফাইলগুলো আছে । তাহলে এই তারিখ দিয়ে সেইভ করা ফোল্ডারটিই আমার স্টক রম ?? এটি সংরক্ষন করলেই হবে ? কিন্তু, sd-ext.ex2.dup ফাইলটি কিসের ?? আমি পার্টিশন করেছি দেখে এরকম এসেছে ?? এটি মুছে দেব ?

I could not understand about the ‘SDK MANAGER’ you are talking. Which program are you referring? Can you provide the steps to make that error on my computer?
Yes, the backup you made with CWMR is your necessary “stock ROM” – considering, you have done this on your fresh Symphony W5, just after rooting. Which means you haven’t removed or modified any system file. A customized ROM is something like Cyanogenmod, MIUI etc. Or if you/your friend make one by yourself. If you flash that and make a backup, you are making a backup of a custom ROM, not stock ROM.
By the way, I think it is not good to spend time to figure out how to use any customized rom for your mobile. Probably the era of customized ROM is coming to the end. When early androids were released, they did not have much options to root and customize, at least easily. And the users were forced to use boatwares shipped with their mobile. But the scenario is changing. Many manufacturers are now going to give you the chance to root/hack their mobile. They understand that customers need it and it is good for their business to follow the trend. Also for some cases court has declared that it is not illegal to modify ROM. So, if you can remove or install any system application by yourself, why do you need other to do it for you? And now you can do this easily with your phone. Customize as you like.
Don’t think about these much. These are constantly changing and mostly useless to try to track.
Ok, now on CWMR 🙂 – I have not partitioned (but hope to do so for testing Link2SD) my SD Card and the files are made by CWMR are:

*Note: You will not be able to flash these files with SP Flash Tool without some modification. And the description is long about modification. If you put “MT6575_Android_scatter.txt” in these folder, then try to load it in SP Flash Tool, it will crash after showing an error message. And if you make mistake in modification you may brick your phone, probably hard brick this time 🙂
For testing make a backup with SP Flash Tool or GscriptLite as above, then put “MT6575_Android_scatter.txt” in the backup folder. Run Flash_tool.exe, load the scatter. What do you see? It crashed on my computer. Since we are not going to Read/Write, nothing to worry about testing this. Plus, not to flash every files that was backed up by SP Flash Tool or using script on GscriptLite. This might be risky too.
Well, just back them up in DVD – files backed up with SP Flash Tool or Gscript. And use clockworkmod for your regular testing. You will be safe Inshallah. If needed we will get the DVD and discuss this later. Let’s not think too much, earlier.
Backup data and cache is probably for backing up these 2 partitions which holds your personal information like login to gmail account/market, application settings etc. I didn’t try this. I only erased data, cache while having problem to access google play/market. But never made backup so nothing to restore.
Anyway, by default Backup/Restore feature of CWMR makes backup of these partitions and restores. Seems like written long enough to bore you to death. You are free now – Take Care & Khoda Hafez 🙂

বিরক্তির কিছু নেই ভাই, যা দরকার প্রশ্ন করবেন। আপনি নিজে অন্যের সুবিধার জন্য OTG Cable Instruction থেকে এই বিষয়ে আর সব বাংলায় লিখেছেন। আমি বুঝি এটা কতটা কষ্টকর। আর আপনার সামান্য কিছু প্রশ্নের দেবনা!!!
একই কথা backup এর জন্য, backup ঠিক আছে। তবে যে কোন ব্যপারে 6573 এর instruction follow করবেন না। Restore এর সময় যেভাবেই Restotre করেন – either by CWMR or SP Flash Tool, only restore the following img files:

ANDROID/SYSTEM
RECOVERY
DATA
CACHE
অন্য file গুলো restore করতে যাবেন না।

নারে ভাই, এখনো রুটই করতে পারি নাই 😦 আজ সকালে একটা OTG ক্যাবল বানাইছিলাম, কিন্তু কাজ করে না। বিকেলে মার্কেটে OTG ক্যাবল কিনতে গেলাম, দাম অনেক বেশি চায়। তাছাড়া প্যাকেটের গায়ে কোনো কিছুই লেখা নাই, একদম ফ্রেশ প্যাকেট। তাই সন্দেহ হলো, কাজ হবে কিনা। এজন্য আর কিনিনি। দেখি Android Kothon এর ফেসবুক গ্রুপে সাকিব ভাই একটা উপায় বলেছেন, এই পোস্টের কাছাকাছি। ট্রাই করবো।

আর একটি কথা । এটা একটা বাস্তব টিপঃ প্রথমে কানেক্ট করলে আমারটিও হয়নি । কিন্তু আমি মোবাইলের পোর্ট থেকে জ্যাক না খুলে ইউএসবি পোর্ট থেকে ক্যাবল খুলে আবার লাগিয়েছি । তখন হয়েছে । ট্রাই করে দেখতে পারেন ।

আমি তো অলরেডি রিকভারি থেকে backup and Restore অপশন থেকে ব্যাকআপ করে ফেলেছি। হবে না এতে?

কয়েকটা ব্যপারে আমি কোন documentation পাইনি (খুব বেশী খোঁজও অবশ্য করিনি)। আমি যা বলতে যাচ্ছি তা আমার একান্ত অনুমান – ভূল হতে পারে। আমার কথায় ভরসা রাখবেননা। জানিয়ে রাখি যে android এর internal ঘাঁটাঘাটি আমি করছি বেশী হলে গত বিশ দিন যাবৎ। এর আগে web এ দেখে Ebook Reader root করেছিলাম, internal জানার দরকার হয়নি।
আমার মাইক্রোকন্ট্রোলার প্রোগ্রামিং সম্পর্কে সামান্য ধারনা আছে (সামান্যই), মাইক্রোকন্ট্রোলার আপনি দুই ভাবে প্রোগ্রাম করতে পারেন – 1. প্রোগ্রামার দিয়ে সরাসরি, 2. বুটলোডার দিয়ে (by serial port)। বুটলোডার একটি ছোট্ট প্রোগ্রাম, মাইক্রোকন্ট্রোলারের প্রথমে বসে থাকে। সে একটি সিগনাল এর অপেক্ষা করতে পারে (signal – like, vol up + power), যখন সিগনাল পাবে তখন সে অপেক্ষা করতে থাকবে এজন্য যে user is going to send/feed me a new program. যখন আপনি নতুন program feed করলেন, তখন সে সুনির্দিষ্ট জায়গায় তা লিখবে এবং লিখার পর execute করবে।
যদি আপনি নতুন program feed করার সিগনাল না দেন, তখন সে কি করবে?
তখন সে আগে যে program write করা আছে তাই execute করবে।
তাহলে বুঝা গেল যে বুটলোডার মুল প্রোগ্রাম নয়। বরং এটা মুল প্রোগ্রাম execute করে এবং দরকরে নতুন একটা প্রোগ্রাম সুনির্দিষ্ট জায়গায় লিখে। ‘সুনির্দিষ্ট’ বলতে উদাহরন হিসেবে মনে করুন, আপনার একটি pendrive আছে 10MB এর। বুটলোডার বসে আছে প্রথম 100 byte জায়গা নিয়ে। এবং সে execute করবে 101 byte থেকে। এখন এই 101 নম্বর byte এ যদি মূল প্রোগ্রাম এর শুরু না থাকে, total program ই আর কাজ করবেনা।
অথবা যদি বুটলোডারই না থাকে, তাহলেও প্রোগ্রাম কাজ করবেনা। অথবা যদি বুটলোডার ভূল জায়গায় লিখা হয় – প্রোগ্রাম কাজ করবেনা।

এই PRELOADER সম্ভবত এরকম। এটা মুল প্রোগ্রাম নয়। আপনি যে PRELOADER backup করেছেন, আর আমি যে PRELOADER দিয়েছি, তা এক না। SP Flash Tool এর উপযোগী করতে আপনার (বা আমার) PRELOADER কে modify করতে হবে। একটি hex editor, file compare option এ গিয়ে দেখতে পারেন। dsp_bl এও একই রকম ব্যপার। এসবের কাজ hardware আর মুল program ঠিকমতো চালানো। একজন microcontroller প্রোগ্রামার যদি documentation না দেয়, তাহলে এ সম্পর্কে জানা প্রায় অসম্ভব। তো যেহেতু দরকার নেই PRELOADER flash করা থেকে আমরা বিরত থাকি। এটা নিজে নষ্ট হবেনা, তাই restore করার কিছু নেই। এক্ষেত্রে নিজেকে মনে করিয়ে দেই – ভূল ভাবে বুটলোডার write করলে সম্পূর্ন নষ্ট হয়ে যাবে।
যাই হোক নিম্নলিখিত ফাইলগুলো নিয়ে modify করার scope আছে (ক্ষেত্র বিশেষে দরকার নেই):
• system.img এ আপনার system file গুলো থাকে, – Modify করতে পারেন।
• boot.img এ থাকে বুট সংক্রান্ত বিষয় (modify করা boot image এ শুধু একটা 1 কে 0 করা হয়েছে – “ro.secure=1” to “ro.secure=0”), init.rd modify করতে পারেন, practically কোন দরকার নেই।
• data.img এ market/play থেকে যে app গুলো নিয়েছেন – সেগুলো আছে, আছে অন্যান্য ফাইলও – Modify করতে পারেন।
• cache.img temporary file like history, login info etc. Nothing to modify.
• recovery.img – The CWMR – Nothing to modify.
• logo.img – the boot logo + battery charging animation (while mobile is turned off). Modify to change boot image (just the 1st boot image. 2nd and 3rd are inside system.img).
• NVRAM – MAC address, IMEI ইত্যাদি তথ্য। Modify করতে পারেন দরকার হলে। আমি কখনো Restore করিনি।
এছাড়া বাকী ফাইলগুলোতে modify করার মতো কিছু নেই, এগুলো নষ্টও হবার মত নয়। কেউ এসব backup থেকে restore করেনা। (আমি একবার এই Symphony W5 এ রাশিয়ান একটি stock firmware write করেছিলাম, তখন এসব ফাইলও flash করেছিলাম, একটি বা দুটি ছাড়া – Symphony W5 এর firmware রাশিয়ানটার থেকে অনেক ভালো, রাশিয়ানটা কিছু problem করতো)। এসব ফাইল exactly কি করে এখন পর্যন্ত জানতে পারিনি। তবে আগ্রহও নেই – যেহেতু এখানে করার কিছুই নেই – “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”
এ পর্যন্তই আজ। ভালো থাকুন।

আচ্ছা, রবিউল ভাই, রুট করলে IMEI নম্বর নষ্ট হয়েই যায়? আমিতো আমার ডিভাইসে এখোনো আইএমইআই দেখতে পাচ্ছি। তাহলে কি আবার IMEI রিস্টোর করার প্রয়োজন আছে?
আরেকটা কথা, রুট তো করলাম। পরে super one click দিয়ে কি আনরুট করা যাবে? পদ্ধতিটা কি এ রকম?
১. মাইক্রোএউএসবি ডাটা ক্যাবল দিয়ে পিসির সাথে ডিভাইস কানেক্ট করতে হবে (ডিবাগিং মুড অন রাখতে হবে)।
২. super one click ওপেন করতে হবে।
৩. Unroot এ ক্লিক করে কিছুক্ষণ অপেক্ষা
৪. আনরুট হয়ে যাবে।

না, রুট করলেই IMEI erase হবেনা। কোন একটা file, backup থেকে restore করলে IMEI চলে যাবে। আমি আমারটা মুছে ফেলেছিলাম। ঠিক কোন ফাইলের কারনে এটা হয়েছে এখন আর মনে করতে পারছিনা। তবে CWMR backup থাকলে আর সমস্যা নেই। Backup না থাকলেও সমস্যা নাই। IMEI write করার যে পদ্ধতি লিখেছি, সেটা আমি নিজে test করে দেখেছি – কাজ করে।
আনরুট করার পদ্ধতি আপনি যা লিখেছেন তাই, এটা সহজেই হবার কথা – কিন্তু আমি করে দেখিনি।
আপনি দুটি software download করুন, কাজের সুবিধার জন্য।

2. MTKdroidTools
দেখুন এগুলো। অনেক কাজের।
One thing more Masud bhai, did you make a complete backup with SP Flash Tool or GscriptLite? If not you can do this with MTKdroidTools with the easiest way, I ever found.
What I wanted to know is, whether you have a fast & stable internet connection, to upload the complete stock rom. It is too large. If you don’t have unlimited data/internet package, don’t do this. But if you have it, please upload it to some good place like Skydrive (not rapidshare, 4shared etc.).

Use QtADB and go to /system/app/ (on the right pane under ‘phone’ title). There you will find the files to remove. Not to mention, make a backup of the files you are going to delete.

আমিও তাই ভেবেছিলাম, হওয়ার কথা না। আপনাকে আর মাসুদ ভাইকে উত্তর দেবার অনেক পরে মনে হয়েছে, যে আরেকটা কাজ বাকী রয়ে গেল।
একটা ফাইল modify করে test করতে হবে। আপনি কি এটা fix করা জরুরী মনে করেন? কারন error টা শুধু একবার দেখাবে, তারপর সে জেনে নেবে weather widget নেই, বরং অন্য widget ব্যবহার করতে হবে। Test করার দরকার আছে?
না জরুরী না আসলে । একটু খারাপ দেখায় আরকি ! আর আমি ঐটা চাইনা দেখেই তো ডিলিট করছি !! এখন ভূলে যখন স্টক রমকে কাস্টম রম কইরা ফালাইছি তাই এখন একটা স্টক রমের অপেক্ষায় বসে আছি 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

আমি দেখি রমটা ভাগে ভাগে আপলোড করতে পারি কিনা। তবে আমারটাও তো অরিজিনাল না। Symphony Service Center থেকে Flash করা। কিছু পার্থক্য আছে।
এর মধ্যে আপনি weather এর file গুলো আবার কপি করলে error চলে যাবে। লাগলে জানাবেন।

Stock ROM টা upload কবে বা আদৌ করতে পারি কিনা নিশ্চিত বলতে পারছিনা। তবে এখন যেহেতু আমরা বেশ কয়েকজনই root করেছি (having access to system files and tools + drivers)। ফোন নষ্ট হওয়া নিয়ে আর চিন্তার তেমন কিছু নেই। কিছু হলে তখন দেখা যাবে। যে কোন app কে Superuser permission দেবেননা। বাকী আল্লাহ্ ভরসা।

রবিউল ভাই ব্যাবহার করে আপডেট দিতে পারবেন?
আচ্ছা দেখবো ঠিক আছে। তবে একটু সময় লাগতে পরে – সব ঠিক মতো কাজ করছে কিনা দেখতে। একটা জিনিষ, এই Symphony W5 এ RAM এর ব্যাপার না ভাবলেও চলে – আমি কয়েকটা system app মুছে ফেলে দেখি প্রায় 100 MB RAM free. অনেক মোবাইলে হয়তো 100MB RAM ই নেই – আর এটাতে free আছে 100 MB. আমার প্রথমে ইচ্ছা ছিলো Cyanogenmod, পরে দেখি কি দরকার? ইচ্ছা মতো এ্যাপ ইনস্টল/আন-ইনস্টল করলেই তো হয়।
By the way, root করার পর আপনি কি করলেন? আমি তো করার কিছুই দেখতে পাচ্ছিনা। না হয় হলোই 100 MB free – এটা দিয়ে কি করবো? আমি অবশ্য 80/20 – অর্থাৎ – 80% users will use only 20% features of the device 🙂
আল্লাহ্ অপ্রয়োজনীয় জ্ঞান থেকে আমাদের রক্ষা করুক।
Edit: বলতে ভূলে গিয়েছিলাম – আমি রুট করার পর boot image, boot animation/sound বদলে ফেলেছি। অন্তত কিছু একটা তো করা হলো।
আমার অবস্থাও একই রকম। তেমন কিছুই করার পাচ্ছি না। তবে এসডি কার্ড পার্টিশন করে ইন্টারনাল মেমোরি বাড়িয়ে নিয়েছি অনেকখানি। আর কিছু অ্যাপস ইনস্টল করেছি, যেগুলো রুট করা ছাড়া ব্যবহার সম্ভব ছিল না।
‘80/20’ থিওরি ভাল্লাগছে, মজা পাইছি 🙂 আমিও একই দলে।
boot image, boot animation/sound কিভাবে বদলাইছেন? আমিও একটা কিছু করি… 🙂

না ভাই, হলো না। 1st boot image এ এসে আটকে থাকে, সিস্টেমে ঢুকেনা।
আমার ধারণা ছিল হবে 😦 আপনি কোনো কাস্টম রম ব্যবহার করছেন?
না ভাই কোন কাস্টম রম ব্যবহার করছিনা। /system/media তে পাবেন 2nd boot image, animation, sound. 1st boot image change করা একটু কঠিন। এগুলো সবই web এ পাবেন – xda forum etc। একটু খুঁজে নিন। লিংক আমার মনে নেই। আর ইন্টারনাল মেমোরি বাড়িয়ে ভালো করেছেন। আমি এখনও করিনি ।

হ্যাঁ দেখুননা, কাজ না হলে CWMR থেকে Restore করবেন আপনার আগের Backup। আমার flash করায় ভূলও হতে পারে।

আসলে আমার মাথায় “android” ঢুকিয়েছে শাহীন নামের এক ভাই – এই উপরের লিংকের এসবের জন্য। যদিও এখনও কিছুই শুরু করতে পারিনি।।।

Can’t remember now :), cause – restored again. It was a testing. But deleted apps like skype, twitter, uk news, fruit ninja, voice search, Latitude etc.
You may try it by yourself. Remove apps that automatically runs at startup. You may also use apps like “Antek App Manager” and “Antek Explorer”, these two will help you freeze/uninstall system apps and find their location.
To increase RAM you may also stop google apps, specially when you are not going to use market/playstore.
I have installed some apps again which have to run at startup, like:
Android Firewall
Record My Call
Calls Blacklist
Advanced Clock Widget
Live Wallpaper. Etc.
Plus some more, but those don’t run at startup. Not to mention, those system apps came again.
Now it is not 100 MB free, plus after restore I have not cleaned the unwanted apps. I should do it though.
But it can be done. For a quick test, use an app like RAM Booster or something like that (forgot the exact name). But I did not like the app much, due to ad and nag etc.
I read that there are some good apps for managing startup apps, like Startup Auditor. But didn’t use any. Try some, there are plenty, free.

Also try to make a barebone ROM please – removing all unnecessary apps. Test, if we can access google play, and the device (telephony) properly. Remove apps without hesitation, just make it as small as possible. Your testing and update would help us all. So far as I know GTalk is important to keep, though we will not use it.
By the way, probably already known by you – I found a new app for notification of missed call, sms, mms. Described this on top of the page.

Gtalk টা কেন প্রয়োজনীয় ??
একটা সমস্যায় পড়েছি। রুট করার পর ইয়াহু, ওয়েদারসহ কয়েকটা সিস্টেম অ্যাপস লিংক২এসডি দিয়ে আনইনস্টল করেছিলাম (তবে গুগল সার্ভিসের কোনটা টাচ করিনি)। তারপর গতকাল ক্যাম্পাসের ওয়াইফাই দিয়ে GO Launcher আপডেট দিলাম। হঠাৎ কিভাবে যেন ডিভাইস হ্যাং হয়ে গেলো। পাওয়ার অফ করে CWM রিকভারিতে গিয়ে ‘ডেলভিক ক্যাশ’ পার্টিশন দিতে গিয়ে ভুলে fix permission এ ক্লিক দিয়ে ফেলি। তারপর থেকে যতবারই ডিভাইস রিস্টার্ট দেই, ততবারই ইন্টারনাল মেমোরি আরো কমতে থাকে। কয়েকটা অ্যাপস ডিলিট করে দেখেছি, তারপরও ইন্টারনাল মেমোরি শুধু কমছেই। প্লিজ, একটা সমাধান দেন।
বুঝতে পারছিনা কি হয়েছে, Dalvik Cache তে যদি কোন কারন ছাড়াও Fix Permission দেন তাহলেও তো সমস্যা হওয়ার কথা না। এটি file permission – default এ সেট করবে। এর সাথে Internal Memory কিভাবে কমবে বুঝতে পারছিনা। আপনি এই লিংকটা দেখুন,

আর আপনার CWMR backup নেই? উপরের লিংক থেকে কাজ না হলে CWMR restore করুন। সন্দেহ থাকলে SD Card খুলে clockworkmod folder টি যাতে আপনার backup আছে computer এ কপি করুন। তারপর SD Card এর partition মুছে fat32 format করে পুনরায় clockworkmod – SD card এ কপি এবং এরপর restore করুন।
অন্যের CWMR backup আপনারটাতে কাজ করার কথা না – যেহেতু IMEI আলাদা। এসবে না হলে SP Flash Tool হচ্ছে শেষ পদ্ধতি।
আমি রুট করার পর পরই ডিভাইসে কোনো পরিবর্তন করার আগেই CWMR দিয়ে ব্যাকআপ নিয়েছিলাম। এসডি কার্ডে ৫৩১ মেগাবাইটের clockworkmod ফোল্ডার তৈরি হইছিল একটা। তার ভেতর ‘backup’ এবং ‘blobs’ নামে দুইটা ফোল্ডার আছে। উপরে আবির ভাই যেমন বলেছেন, আমার ফোল্ডারেও সেই ইমেজ ফাইলগুলো আছে। আমি লিংকটুএসডি দিয়ে পার্টিশন করার আগে clockworkmod ফোল্ডারটা পিসিতে ব্যাকআপ নিয়ে রেখেছিলাম। পরে পার্টিশন করার পর এসডিকার্ডেও একটা কপি রেখেছি, যা এখনো আছে। এটাই তো স্টক রম, নাকি?
ধরে নিচ্ছি, এটাই স্টক রম। এখন CWMR থেকে সরাসরি রিস্টোর দিয়ে দিলে হবে না? নাকি এসডি কার্ডের পার্টিশন মোছা বাধ্যতামূলক?
না Partition ভাঙ্গা জরুরী না। কিন্তু আপনি যদি মনে করেন ওখানে ক্ষতিকর কোন app আছে তাহলে মুছে ফেলুন partition. তেমন দরকারি কিছু না থাকলে মুছে ফেলাই ভালো। ext2 file explorer দিয়ে ফাইল access করতে পারেন, e2fsck ব্যবহার করতে পারেন।

কোন অ্যাপস দিয়ে সিস্টেম অ্যাপস মুছেছেন? আমি লিংক২এসডি দিয়ে সিস্টেম অ্যাপস মুছতে গেলে একটা ওয়ার্নিং দেয় যে, সিস্টেম অ্যাপস মুছলে নাকি কি কি ক্ষতি হবে, তারপরেও টুইটার, ওয়েদার, ইয়াহু মুছে ফেলেছি। দেখি আপনার কথায় ভরসা পেলাম। আমিও মুছবো ধীরে ধীরে।

আমি মুছেছি SOLID EXPLORER দিয়ে । এটা দিয়ে সিস্টেমে কাজ করতে আবার BUSY BOX নামে আরেকটি অ্যাপস লাগে ।
আমার মেমরী কার্ড ৪ জিবি (ফ্রি টাই) আর পার্টিশন করেছি কয়েকবার । ১০২৪ মেগা করেছিলাম একবার কিন্তু এখন ৫১২তে রেখেছি …
আমি ৮ জিবি ইউজ করি, তবে এটাও ফ্রি 🙂 ডিভাইস কেনার সময় দোকানে গিয়ে এমন ভাব লইছি… হা হা… দোকানীকে উল্টা জ্ঞান দেওয়া শুরু করছি। দোকানী ৪জিবির বদলে ৮ জিবি দিয়ে দিল 🙂

তাহলে বানান একটা কাস্টম রম।
কয়েকটা জিনিষ, যেমন dual sim, sms, mms, google play, browser, gmail, wifi, edge, gps, accelerometer ইত্যাদি hardware এর সবকিছু ঠিক কাজ করছে কিনা দেখলেই হবে। যদি tether দেয়া যায় ভাল, না হলেও চলবে। Symphony app টার বোধহয় দরকার নেই। এটাতে ওদের সার্ভিস সেন্টারগুলোর ঠিকানা দেয়া। lib folder এ হয়তো angrybird.so বা এধরনের file আছে – যা সম্ভবত এখন আর দরকার নেই। lib folder এ ধরনের আর কি ফাইল থাকতে পারে, যা মুছে ফেলা app এর জন্যই শুধু লাগতে পারে? Weather টা রাখতে পারেন, একে error দুর করা, তারপর না হয় মাঝেমাঝে দেখলামই তাপমাত্রা। ঝামেলা আছে – সময় লাগবে …. 🙂
ওয়েদার ডিলেট করার পর আমার কিন্তু কোনো সমস্যা হয়নি। আর এটা দিয়ে তাপমাত্রা দেখা যায় না। ট্রাই করিছিলাম। কামের হইলে রাখতাম 🙂

গুগল প্লে, ইউটিউব – এই দুটিই যা খেয়েছে রম !! এ দুটি মিলে প্রায় ৯-১০ এমবি খেয়েছে ।
🙂 আচ্ছা। আপনার কাস্টম রম মার্কেটে এলে আমি শুধু Google Play, Youtube রাখবো। গেম আর খেলিনা, আর কখনোই anti virus ব্যবহার করিনা। CWMR এর মতো আমার windows ও backup করা, linux থেকে image restore করি কিছু হলে। তবে আমার কথা ধরার দরকার নেই। আপনি আপনার মনমতো করুন :)।

না কোনই ভুল করেননি। আমি অনর্থক পরামর্শ দিয়ে মাতবরী করতে চাইছিনা। অনেক বিরক্ত করেছি লম্বা কথা বলে।
আর এসব করবেন, কিন্তু রাত জাগবেননা – তা কি আর হয় :)? Deodexing করতে হবেনা এখন? বেশ সময় লাগবে।
স্টক রম ব্যাকআপ দিছি। কাজ হইছে। কিন্তু আরেকটা ভেজাল লেগে গেছে 😦 সলিড এক্সপ্লোরার দিয়া অ্যাপস ডিলেট করছিলাম। স্কাইপে ডিলিট করতেই `Sorry! The application com.skype.rover (processcom.skype.rover) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.” ম্যাসেজটা আসলো। নিচে Force Close ছাড়া কোনো অপশন নাই। Force Close দিলাম, কাজ হয় না। বের হয়ে আসারও কোনো অপশন নাই।
এখন কি করা যায়? ব্যাটারি খুলে ফেলা ছাড়া তো কোনো উপায় দেখছি না। কিন্তু এভাবে সরাসরি ব্যাটারি খুললে না আবার কোন ঝামেলা হয়ে যায়… দুনিয়াটা ভেজালময় ….
ব্যাটারি খুলেই সমাধান করলাম অবশেষে 🙂
Good 🙂 – আমারও তাই করতে হয়েছিলো।
Download করা যেকোন app কে Superuser permission দেবার আগে ভেবে দেখবেন। নির্ভরযোগ্য source ছাড়া পাওয়া app এর ব্যপারেও সাবধান থাকা ভালো। আপনার আগে দেয়া কাস্টম রম ইনস্টল করার পর আসলে মোবাইল ব্রিক হয়ে গিয়েছিল। CWMR backup থাকায় restore করতে অসুবিধা হয়নি। না থাকলে Symphony Service Center ছাড়া উপায় ছিলোনা – এটা “নরমাল চায়না মোবাইল” এর মতো ব্যপার না যে পাড়ার মোড়ের দোকান থেকে “ফ্লাস” করে আনলেই ঠিক।
বুট সাউন্ড আর শাটডাউন সাউন্ড পরিবর্তন করলাম ! কাজও হইছে ! কিন্তু কাজটা বোরিং !! মজা নেই !! বুট স্ক্রিনও পরিবর্তন করা সহজ হবে আশা করছি । কিন্তু, না হলে আবার রিস্টোর ফিস্টোরের ঝামেলা – তাই ভালো লাগছে না 😦
Animation change করাটা সহজ – unzip -> edit -> zip.
1st & 2nd boot change করা একটু কঠিন। 1st boot image load/restore করতে হবে SP Flash Tool বা update.zip ব্যবহার করে।
স্কাইপের ক্ষেত্রে প্রথম বার আমার সমস্যা হয়নি । পরেরবার একই সমস্যার একই সমাধান করেছিলাম । এটা Solid explorer এর সমস্যা নয় । সম্ভবত অন্য কিছু হবে ।
One thing Abir bhai, can you please let me know what you see about “Phone Space Info(ROM)” on the “Android Assistant” app. What is the amount of “Total Space” do you see?

এগুলোর কাজ কি? এগুলো ডিলেট করলে কি সমস্যা হবে?
আরেকটা বিষয়, Solid Explorer দিয়ে system root এ ঢুকলে আমার ডিভাইসের টোটাল মেমোরি দেখায়, ২৬০ এমবি, যার মধ্যে ১৮২.৯ অলরেডি ফিলাপ; তারমানে খালি আছে ৭৭.১ এমবি।
কিন্তু Android Assist টোটাল ইন্টারনাল মেমোরি দেখায় ১৪০.২৫ এমবি, যার মধ্যে খালি আছে মাত্র ৫৬.৬৭ এমবি।

ভাই, আপনি কি রুট করার পর Android Assist এর Move to SD Card অপশনটা ব্যবহার করেছেন?
/system/app এর ব্যপারে একটা একটা করে google search এ দিয়ে দেখুন এগুলোর কাজ কি? PicoTts, TtsService সম্ভবত text to speech বা voice recognition এর ব্যপার, GN_Sales Track – mediatek এর হতে পারে। সবই delete/freeze করে দেখতে হবে, CWMR backup ভরসা করে। আপনারা যেহেতু এগুলো করছেন, আমি আর কিছু না করাই ঠিক করেছি। অনেক পরিশ্রমের ব্যপার।
আমি মনে করেছিলাম এর ROM 256 MB, কিন্তু এখন দেখি 140 MB. আর আমি W5 এর Advertisement টাও বুঝলাম না –

– 140 MB is for /data. Android Assistant is showing this, which is standard way to determine internal storage.
– 260 MB is for /system
To get the idea, connect phone to PC, on phone Debug is ON. Open adb shell, if you have QtADB, go to it’s folder where adb.exe is residing. Press and hold down Shift key and right click on any white space inside the folder. Select, ‘Open command window here’. Now you have the terminal. Enter the following commands:
* To know /data size:
adb shell df /data
* To know /system size:
adb shell df /system
* To know the amount of space used by file/folder inside /data:
adb shell du -h /data > mydata.txt
This will create mydata.txt file inside the QtADB folder. See it to determine which files are eating your space.
* To know the amount of space used by file/folder inside /system:
adb shell du -h /system > mysystem.txt
See the mysystem.txt. Good for your custom rom project.
* To see the complete:
adb shell df

Now, the user (not rooted) is allocated 140 MB, which is the /data. When you download/install an app, the apk goes to /data/app/ folder.
Seems like you don’t get the complete 140 MB, as there are already many files inside /data. And some of them are important, like IMEI is stored here.
So, don’t know exactly how much space you’ve got to use, as a non rooted user.

Bhai Arif, I am very sorry to hear your condition, I mean it.
In fact, personally I was not able to flash the ‘system.img’ file using SP Flash Tool. Even it was made/Read-Back with it. What I do, flash boot.img and recovery.img with SP Flash Tool. Then from CWMR, I restore the system. To make the backup for restoring, it can be done with CWMR’s built-in Backup option, or something like GScript backup mentioned earler.
Then, I read somewhere that one’s CWMR backup will not work for another mobile due to IMEI difference. A workout is also needed.
Now, regarding uploading, you may already know by reading above that I don’t have such a connection speed to upload near 300 MB of files. Considering there is no resume option, since I am using a free account. Though I shall try. Let me know, if you have access or know any site that allows uploading file with resume option.

There would be 14 files, to get the complete folder. Perhaps you have to wait until 14.
Another way to restore system.img, after formatting ‘system’. If there is a valid system.img file made with GscriptLite or other method, we may proceed.
Copy the system.img file to the root of sdcard.
Boot phone to CWMR/recovery.
Connect the phone to computer with normal usb.
Run commands:
adb shell
cd /system
unyaffs /sdcard/system.img
Wait until it extracts image and shows “end of image”. Reboot phone.

ভাইয়া, Zeam Launcher টা ছোট সাইজের আর কাস্টোমাইজ না করা গেলেও সিমপ্লি বেশ ভালো …
হ্যাঁ ভাই, আমার দেখা মতে সবচে’ ভালো – অন্তত আমাদের Poor Man’s ‘Android’ Symphony W5 এর জন্য। অন্য নামকরা দুটি – GO Launcher আর ADW ব্যবহার করে দেখলাম – ভালো লাগেনি, হয়তো ছোট স্ক্রীনের জন্য – কিংবা অনর্থক ফীচার/আ্যাড এর আধিক্য – Bloatware? আর Zeam Launcher তো মোটামুটি customize করা যায়। অবশ্য আপনি কি করতে চাইছেন জানিনা। আর আমিও খুব বেশী দেখিনি আসলে।

If you have USB OTG cable, try flashing only 4 files with the SP FLash Tool:
* Preloader
* DSP_BL
* BOOT.IMG
* RECOVERY.IMG
If it is successful, try to go to CWMR by pressing ‘Power + Vol up’ keys. And you can apply any one method mentioned bellow:
1. Use CWMR Backup/Restore, and restore the file posted above (see comment no. 44 above).
2. Manually restore system.img (see comment no. 45 above).

By the way, if any other user is facing the same problem, I would request to use the SP Flash Tool to flash these 2 files at first:
boot.img
recovery.img
That means, no need to flash Preloader and DSP_BL at first. After flashing, try CWMR to restore the backup file. If it fails, then flash Preloader and DSP_BL with boot.img and recovery.img. CWMR now.
If you ask me, why so? Honestly, I don’t know. There is no documentation or information about these files. At least, at the time of writing this. Also, I don’t know why we can’t use SP Flash Tool to write the image, which was made by using this same SP Flash Tool’s ‘Read Back’ method. Some of them need modification – trimming from start and end – to flash, Preloader & DSP_BL are such files. Probably another version of flash tool is needed, which we don’t have. So we went for the alternative way – CWMR.
There is no problem to flash the Preloader and DSP_BL (personally I have done this several times & didn’t get any problem — the preloader and dsp_bl that I have uploaded). But if we can get what we want, without flashing these files, then why to flash?
Finally, nothing to worry about by the grace of Allah :).
মনে পরে শুধু ১৫ তারিখের কথা…… সকাল ১০ টায় আমার Symphony W5 সেট নিয়ে পল্টন এ symphony customer care এ গেলাম এবং সেট টা জমা দিলাম, কারন সেটের software সমস্যা হয়েছিলো। যাই হোক তারা সারাদিন পরে চার টার দিকে আমাকে কল করে জানালো যে সেটটি ঠিক হয়ে গেছে। আমি যথারিতি সেট আনতে গিয়ে সিম লাগিয়ে অন করি এবং দেখতে পাই IMEI invalid দেখাচ্ছে আর নেটওয়ার্ক পাইতেছে না। আমারতো মেজাজ গরম হয়ে গেলো……. তার পরেও মাথা ঠান্ডা রেখে তাদেরকে বুঝালাম যে , আমি রাতের গারিতে India যাবো তাই প্লিজ আমার সেটটা ঠিক করে দেন। তো তারাও আরো ঘন্টা খানেক চেস্টার পরে আমার কাছে ১০/১২ দিন সময় চাইলো এবং জানালো এই সেটের Mother board বদল করা ব্যাতীত আর কোন উপায় নেই। 🙂 🙂 🙂
আর এদিকে আমি নাছোরবান্দা নেট ঘাটাঘাটি করে, ‘রবিউল’ এর সহযোগিতা নিয়ে, নিজে OTG cable বানিয়ে…….নিজেই অসাধ্য সাধন করলাম 🙂 🙂 🙂
আর এখন এই সেট টা দিয়েই আমার বন্ধুদের এই ব্যাতিক্রম অভিজ্ঞতার কথা জানালাম…….

এটাতো ভাই বুঝতে পারছিনা কি হলো। মোবাইল বন্ধ করে usb তে লাগানোর পর, device manager এ কি দেখায়? উপরে Image – 5 এর মতো কিছু একটা আসার কথা। এটা না আসলে otg cable ঠিক আছে কিনা দেখতে হবে। যদি device manager এ Image – 5 এর মতো দেখায়, এবং তারপরও না হয় – তাহলে অন্য usb port এ লাগিয়ে দেখতে পারেন। Windows reinstall করে আবার প্রথম থেকে driver install করে দেখতে পরেন। এছাড়া আর কিছু করার আছে বলে মনে হয়না।

আনেক কারন থাকতে পারে, বুঝতে পারছিনা। আপনি তো SP Flash Tool যেটা উপরে দেয়া আছে সেটাই ব্যবহার করছেন? যদি উপরের দেয়া SP Flash Tool আর Driver ব্যবহার করে থাকেন. তাহলে সম্ভাবনা হয়তো OTG cable এ ত্রুটি। হয়তো pin short হয়েছে বা কোন pin disconnect হয়ে গেছে। এগুলো ভাই সবই অনুমান করে বলছি, কাজেই আমার ভূলও হতে পারে। আপনি ভালোমত চেক করুন, এটা হওয়ার কথা।
আমি SP Flash Tool আর Driver যেটা উপরে দেয়া আছে সেটাই ব্যবহার করছি। হতে পারে আমার otg ক্যাবলটাতেই কোনো প্রবলেম আছে। আমি আরেকটা ক্যাবল বানিয়ে দেখি কাজ হয় কিনা। যদি কাজ হয় তাহলে আপনাকে অবশ্যই জানাবো

Can’t say about data cable, most of them available in our country are of low quality. It’s your luck.
It would be easier, if you go for a ready-made OTG cable and an USB male to male adapter. But this would cost you approximately 500/600 taka. If any of your friends has an android tablet, probably he has the OTG cable, borrow it from him and buy an “USB male to male adapter” @Tk 80/100.

Hope you will manage to borrow the OTG cable. If that fails I don’t have any recommendation, since I don’t know which cable would be perfect to make your own “DIY OTG Cable”. Root করে ফেলেছেন? CWMR দরকার প্রয়োজনীয় ফাইলগুলো backup করে রাখার জন্য। পরে কোন কারনে ফাইল মুছে গেলে, বা ফোন স্টার্ট না হলে, আগে করে রাখা backup টি restore করলে সমস্যা সমাধান – 99% ক্ষেত্রে। তাই এটা বেশ জরুরী। এটাও করুন।

এগুলোর একটা কপি যত্ন করে রেখে দিন, কোন ভুলত্রুটি হলে আবার এসব Write করা যাবে। এবার এগুলোকে unlock করার চেষ্টা করুন। আশা করি Read করার সময় Start Address, Length সঠিক দিয়েছেন। প্রয়োজনে scatter file দেখে আবার নিশ্চিত হয়ে নিন।

আমি আর Android নিয়ে খুব একটা ঘাঁটাঘাটি করছিনা। তাই অনেক কিছুই বলতে পারবো না বা পরিষ্কার মনে নেই। আপনি xda forum এ খুঁজে দেখতে পারেন, কিছু script আছে boot.img extract/repack করার। এসব আপনার কাজ সহজ করে দেবে। W5 এর “boot-un-pt.img” “recovery-un-pt.img” W20 তে কাজ করবে বলে মনে হয়না, সম্ভবত ফোনটা নষ্ট/bricked হয়ে যাবে। প্রথমে SP Flash Tool দিয়ে boot.img, recovery.img, Preloader “Read” করুন। তারপর এগুলোকে unlock করার চেষ্টা করুন।

Write করতে হলে boot.img বা recovery.img যে folder এ থাকবে সেই folder এ preloader file টা থাকতে হবে (Symphony W5 এ লাগে, W20 এর ব্যপারে নিশ্চিত নই)। Preloader file টা modify করতে হয়, যে কোন একটা hex editor দিয়ে (আমি HxD ব্যাবহার করেছিলাম)।
আপনি Write করার চেষ্টা করে দেখুন। হলে তো কাজ হয়েই গেল। একটা জিনিষ, আপনার scatter file টা তো W20 এর? কারন অন্য কোন mobile এর scatter ব্যবহার করে যা Read করবেন, তা Write করলে ফোন ব্রিকড হয়ে যেতে পারে।

You can try this, I am not sure about the result – as I have sold my W5. Follow all the steps, when it is time to click on either Read or Download, make sure your mobile is off and not connected to computer. Click on Read/Download and quickly plug the usb cable to computer.
Once again, I am not sure – I did this for rooting another mobile and it worked there.
I have a similar phone like Symphony W5. Mine is Micromax A25. It is also based on MT6575. I have created my own scatter file using MTK Droid Tools. Using your OTG cable method, I can read back the whole ROM. Then I modified the recovery image using Mitchfood’s batch file. However, I cannot write the modified recovery.img or boot.img back into my phone. If I use the OTG cable, a red progress bar completes to 100% in SP Flash Tool and then an error shows like “DRAM error” or Eboot error. If I use a normal USB cable for writing, it shows partition size changed error. Please help and suggest what to do.
I am not sure. Do you have the preloader file (read from the same phone, modified if needed) in the same folder where the modified recovery.img file is? For reading ROM from the phone it is not necessary to have the preloader with the scatter file in same folder. But, for writing it is needed.
Yes I have. I have used the “Read Back” function of the SP Flash Tool to read from 0x00000000 to 0x00FC0000 (the address up to the recovery). Then MTK Droid Tools is used to create a folder with patched boot image, CWM recovery image and uboot, preloader, dsp_bl, logo.bin and other partitions, which were included in that memory address range.
I did not use the way you are doing, also – not saying that it is wrong. Probably you are doing right. I used “mtk-tools-master” for unpack and repack the images. I know it is possible to make the modified preloader file with MTK Droid Tools, although don’t remember the exact procedure anymore.
Don’t know what to do now. Do you want try to do it another way? If so, use MTK Droid Tools to make the scatter file only. Then read 2 files Preloader and boot.img with SP Flash Tool. I am thinking to try to write it back which was read earlier. That is write the boot.img 1st, to check whether it is possible to write. Do you want to proceed, not to mention at your own risk :)?
Another thing, open the recovery.img or boot.img with a hex editor, and make sure that the 1st word is “ANDROID!”.

Thank you very much for the detailed instructions. I have done just as you said, 1. created scatter file using MTK Droid Tools, 2. Read back the preloader and the boot.img and 3. tried writing the aforementioned & untouched boot image back into my phone. But still those partition size changed error shows (if normal USB cable is used) and EBOOT DRAM error shows if OTG cable is used 😦
So we failed again. Let’s not get disheartened & try again in the name of Allah :). Can you please upload those 3 files somewhere and post the link? 3 files are, scatter file, preloader and boot.img. Please also mention what value did you use on SP Flash Tool to “Read” the files, ie “Start Address”, “Length”; I assume that you have selected ‘Hex’ for “Type” and ‘Read Page Only’ for the “Read Method” (see Image – 8 above). You understand that these “Start Address” and “Length” are important. Also note that there is a bug with this SP Flash Tool, which is, even if you have selected ‘Read Page Only’, it may change to something else after you click the OK button. You can determine this by seeing Read Flag (see Image – 9 above). If it is not PageOnly, do it again.

In that way, SP Flash Tool read upto the userdata partition. And yes, I selected Hex and Read Page Only. Please look into the files I uploaded. This Micromax A25 phone has only 120MB of free memory and it is practically useless unless I root. it.
Thank you for uploading the files. I could not understand how did you “Read” the file, ie:
1. Read up to userdata. (This makes a chunk of full of files merged in an one file)
2. Extract the needed files from it, like extract preloader from it, then extract boot.img from it.
I don’t know how did you do that. But I did it differently to Read the files. For reading a specific part, mention the Start Address of it from the scatter file, to determine the length subtract the Start Address from the Start Address of the next part.
According to your scatter file, the Start Address and Length for the preloader and boot.img files:

Length: 0x80000
* For boot.img:
Start Address: 0x5c0000
Length: 0xA00000

To make it clear to you, determining the length for boot.img [“Start Address of RECOVERY” – “Start Address of BOOTIMG”] = 0xfc0000 – 0x5c0000 = 0xA00000
You can use Windows’ built in calculator (click View->Programmer. Enter value without prefix “0x”.).
I am not saying that your method is wrong, and what I have written would solve the problem. Let’s follow one method at a time. Please Read the files again this way, and upload.
Thanks for the reply. What I meant by “reading up to userdata partition” is that:- in the read back option of SP Flash tool, I entered the start address as 0x00000000 and length as 0x16440000. The 0x16440000 is the start address of the userdata partition. That’s why I wrote “I read up to userdata”. Moreover, when I read back using the USB OTG cable, a file ROM_0 is saved. You can read this file using MTK Droid Tools and extract the preloader, boot recovery and various other partitions automatically – this is what I did and this is how I got those three files.
However, as I have wrote before, my phone is not turning on now. Please look at my previous comment and let me know.
Keep the ROM_0 file safe. Use any hex editor (you can use HxD from here http://mh-nexus.de/en/hxd/ or other way) and get 1st 512kb from it. Save this 512kb, this is the preloader file.

Don’t know. Probably there is not enough ram. And did not see any firmware too. ICS doesn’t have anything better than Gingerbread (except USB host, which varies for device) or I have missed the good thing.
I tried to flash the recovery image by editing the scatter file. I removed everything from the scatter file and kept only the preloader and the recovery portion. Then the flashing worked and the green circle with download OK message appeared. But after that, I can’t turn on my phone. It is completely bricked. But it is soft-bricked I guess, as when I connect my USB cable to my computer, it shows MediaTek DA USB VCOM port. I tried reflashing with original recovery and boot, but I can’t write anything again. However, I can flash the preloader and the DSP_BL using the USB OTG cable (it shows green circle with Download OK dialogue box afterwards). Please suggest what to do. This is the second time I bricked my phone and I guess the service center guys will be annoyed at me for my frequent visits.
Yes, it is probably soft-bricked. And nothing to worry about, only if we have Read the files before. You have written the Recovery portion. Your phone should start as you did not write the bootimg portion. Problem.
Perhaps you have did it before I have posted my earlier reply, few minutes back. There I told how to “Read” a specific part. I think the problem was in your preloader file. If you Read the preloader file this way, the size would be 512kb (length 0x80000). What you have uploaded is modified and size is 80kb.
Now you have written the preloader area. May we expect the original file by reading it now? Do we have the preloader file with 512kb size that was Read before writing preloader portion?

It’s working. Try using Internet Explorer. Sometimes (most of the time) it does not work with Firefox. It’s (skydrive) a Microsoft site, probably they want you to use their own browser – Internet Explorer :).

If you are using linux, even then you will have to get access to windows, as SP Flash Tool, Super one click are windows application. I doubt that they would work on linux with wine.

Aha… yes, now I remember :), you posted before. One thing I remember, that I could not understand about your male to male USB extension cable. These are available, but not easy to find as these are not needed for daily work. Also, so far as I remember this kind of cable is not approved by the official USB organization. However……
I didn’t find any custom rom. There is so called custom rom which are not the real thing. Just added or removed some system files. This is not the way to make custom rom. You need the source code for kernel, modify and compile to make custom rom. There is no source code for this kernel as far as I know.
If you don’t mind, I would like to request you not to spend much time with these rooting, modifying etc. After all these are useless. Hope you will understand this by yourself within near future. Different manufacturers (Chinese specially) have different systems/drivers, and different method to root for almost each one. They will make you dance as they want. So…….

is there any other way to root w5???? as because w5 is a clone of micromax a52 why cannot we root by the process of rooting a52?? I know that for every mobile there are different files needed but why cannot we just replace the files of a52 with w5 and use the rooting process of a52?? I know I am a noob at these things :p but finding or building an otg cable is almost impossible for me!!! so I will be highly obliged if you give me another way of rooting w5!!!! 🙂
You are right brother, it is supposed to work like A52. But doesn’t. Don’t know what they have done.

মোবাইল অফ করে USB তে লাগান এবং Device Manager এ দেখুন। Boot.img যদি unlocked থাকে তাহলে Super One Click ব্যবহার করে রুট করতে পারবেন।
